Archived 6/11/00

We are delighted to announce that Ms Joanna Finn was presented recently, at the Textile Institute’s "Fibre to Finished Fabric" Conference, with the 1999 Young Scientist Competition Award. Her presentation entitled "Condensation Effects on Moisture Vapour Transfer Through Water-resistant Breathable Fabrics" summarised her PhD work carried out at BTTG (whilst registered at the University of Leeds) and which was judged to be the winner of the competition. Her prize was presented by the eminent Professor S. Kawabata of Japan. Joanna is part of the BTTG/University of Leeds Postgraduate Training Partnership (PTP) scheme that seeks to provide industrially orientated PhD research and training in a commercial environment. Financial industrial support for her project was provided by Lowe Alpine Limited represented by Mr Owen Smith. She is the second PTP Associate (the first being Philip Morris) to be awarded this prestigious prize. We congratulate her efforts.
